John, Joann & John
We are John, Joann and John. The concept of co-housing appealed to us when we first learned about it several years ago. We have been involved with Woodard Lane Co-housing since 2006. We are hoping though co-housing to live a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle, enriched by others who have similar values.
We are a thoughtful, playful family. We enjoy picnics, big bowls of popcorn, singing and dancing, and reading books out loud to each other.
Joann is quiet and thoughtful, and she has a deep respect for children that forms much of her life. In the past she worked in churches coordinating children’s programs. She now uses her skills as a volunteer with children, and in training adults to use Montessori methods in religious education. Being a mom brings joy to her life, and she enjoys figuring out ways to include John in everyday activities. She also enjoys many creative endeavors like sewing, knitting, and spinning yarn.
John worked for years as a computer programmer. Then he returned to school to study history and education and worked as a substitute teacher. Now he uses his skills to help local non-profits develop web sites and promotional videos. He has a dry sense of humor and loves to laugh and make his family laugh. He is interested in politics and social justice issues.
Our son John is very interested in music and is taking violin lessons. He is very creative and recreates many experiences he has. He is helpful, and we think that he will make a wonderful big brother when another child joins our family through adoption.
